Interior design trends are frequently changing year after year. New products are introduced, new brands are born, new patterns emerge and, new styles arise. One thing that is certain and consistent, is no style is better than the other! All styles are personal preferences and this is true about this month’s blog: maximalist and minimalist interior design styles.
Maximalism is not a new concept and has been around for a while. In the aspect of interior design, the maximalism style embraces a bold use of color, patterns, and layering. Many people may think the trend is to add as much as possible to a room. However, the style is intentional and curated. As luxury interior designers, we often see abstract art and furniture pieces that our clients want to center a room around.
The Modern Estate bathroom has different patterns and materials but all aspects are intricately placed and layered to complement one another.
Minimalism is exactly what it sounds like, less is more. As custom home interior designers, clients have specific items in a room that they would like to focus on. This item may have a specific material or pattern and the rest of the items in the room will have intention and careful placement. Everything in a minimalist room should add value to the space. Often people think that only a neutral color palette is used, however, this is not always the case. The room design can form around a specific color, and if not done correctly, can be cold and sparse.
The French Luxury bathroom above focuses on lighter tones of grey and white. With intricate lighting, the focus is to pull the eye to the lights while the mirrors and mosaic tile complement the bathroom design.
